Launched in 2000, JLH has grown from a two-man team to an established local business that is invested in the West Michigan community.   • Justin Hickman

    OWNER

    Justin started JLH Lawn Care and Landscaping in the spring of 2000 while working toward his degree in Landscape Design and Maintenance from Michigan State University. His vision and creativity sets the direction of the company. Justin loves the customer relations through the sales and service he focuses on daily. He has been in the landscape business for over 20 years and is passionate about creating beautiful and functional outdoor living spaces as the final product of customers’ visions.

  • Jake Hickman

    POOL TECHNICIAN

    Jake has been with JLH for over 20 years and is an expert in lawn care and turf maintenance. He is the leader of the operations for all the maintenance employees and crews. Jake graduated from Grand Valley State University with a degree in Business Administration. His commitment and dedication to customer satisfaction and quality service is what makes JLH the outstanding service company it is today.

  • Shawn Russ

    HARDSCAPE & POOL INSTALLATION SPECIALIST / CREW LEADER

    Shawn has been with JLH since 2003 and has over 20 years of experience in landscape and irrigation installation. He is also certified in hardscapes. Shawn leads the crews and operations on landscaping projects. His knowledge and work ethic is unbeatable. He is a customer favorite and cares greatly about the quality of the work we provide.

  • Ryan O'Dea

    LANDSCAPE DESIGNER

    Ryan has been with JLH for over ten years, and in the industry for several more. He started at JLH while working towards his BS in Horticulture with a concentration in Landscape Design and Management from Michigan State University. After graduation, he has taken on the responsibility of Landscape Designer, also working in the field installing some of the very landscapes he designs throughout the year. Most recently, Ryan has taken on roles as a pool equipment and irrigation specialist. Ryan has a passion for customer communication and loves collaborating to figure out a solution that best fits the landscape and the design intent.

  • Joel Pitsch

    LICENSED RESIDENTIAL BUILDER

    Joel joined the JLH team in 2023. He is a licensed residential builder with 27 years of experience in the Grand Rapids area and brings an unwavering commitment to quality and an excellent reputation. With Joel on the team, JLH has been able to offer many new services that range from New Home Construction, Garages, Pole Barns, Additions, Remodels, and Decks.

  • Jess Ray

    OFFICE MANAGER / GRAPHIC DESIGN & MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS

    Jess joined the JLH team in November of 2020. She graduated with a BFA in graphic design from Kendall College of Art and Design in 2012, spending time after graduation in both graphic design and customer service positions. She is passionate about customer service and internal operations organization. Jess has taken on the roles of marketing communications, landscape presentation design, HR, and payroll, as well as acting as an office manager - organizing customer service and customer communications.
